Bacchus Caves team designed this three-tunnel cave with the owners and spent three months excavating and finishing the cave under a hillside on the property.
They incorporated explosives technique as well as tunneling with an 82-drill-bit roadheader to break through the hard rock and volcanic ash. Much of the excavated debris was used to pave roads on the property. An entire granite wall of the cave was left exposed as a design choice, the rest of the surfaces were hand-sprayed with a custom-color shotcrete.
